Kel stared into the hostile eyes of Dixie's twin sister, Mitzi and understood just how dangerous she was. Dixie buried her head into Kel's chest, sobbing. Besides losing her grip on reality, she was fearful for her baby and what her sister might do. Mitzi waved the gun menacingly at the them and laughed wickedly. But before she could say anything, Dixie's apartment manager, Mr. Douglas Morgan, entered through the broken door.
"What the heck is going on here?" he demanded angrily as he surveyed the damage to the door frame. He turned to the trio in front of him and the short, hefty man began to hyperventilate when he saw the gun. "Wha....wha...?" The color drained from his face, his eyes rolled in the back of his head, and he fell to the floor in a dead faint. Mr. Morgan proved to be the distraction that gave Kel the opening he needed to jump forward to grab the gun away from Mitizi.
"NO!" Mitzi screamed as the doctor lunged for her. She pulled the trigger and an ear shattering explosion rocked the room. A split second later, Dixie cried out in pain as the bullet struck her body. Dr. Brackett struggled to get the gun away from Mitzi, unaware that the first bullet had found its mark.

"How ya doing, Gage," Bellingham yelled down the elevator shaft.
"Oh great, Bellingham and Dwyer!" Johnny moaned to himself. He yelled up to the opening above. "Get me out of here guys. My foot's gone to sleep." Not to mention the sheer exhaustion he was feeling from trying to hold on to the cable.
"Be down in a minute. Just waiting on the safety lines," Dwyer informed him. Roy was pacing anxiously. He just couldn't fathom how all these things kept happening to Johnny. He turned as the crew from Engine 51 entered the hall from the stair well, lugging the rescue equipment. The moment Hank saw Roy, he knew it was Johnny stuck in the elevator shaft and just shook his head.

Jack Gage waited for the firemen to enter the stair well and tried to follow them but the security guard prevented him from doing so. Angry, he hurried down the hall to find another way to the upper floors. He had to get to Johnny and make sure he was okay.
Sharon was kneeling beside Harriet's unconscious form, trying to revive the woman as Dr. Early came out of the doctor's lounge. By the bewildered look on his face, it was obvious he didn't have a clue as to what had been happening. He hurried to the base station. A moment later, a young student nurse quietly slipped out of the doctor's lounge, straightened her uniform and disappeared down the corridor.
