............Part
23.......,
He suddenly felt a rush of air. Oh wonderful. Another visitor for Gage. This man is annoying even when he's unconscious! I just don't understand why everyone fusses over him so much! Nobody ever cares about me. I'm much more interesting and intelligent than John Gage will ever be! Don't these people realize this is a hospital? I wonder who it is, this time?
He cracked open an eye, to get a glimpse at Gage's latest fan club member.
Alica? He slowly opened both eyes and watched her, unnoticed,
as she stood beside Gage's bed. She is so beautiful. He sighed,
as he sadly took in her features,
becoming even more depressed with his circumstances. Nobody will
ever love me now. His eyes roamed over her body, taking note
of every lovely feature and curve, as well as he could without his glasses.
He stopped suddenly, oticing what looked like a syringe, in Alica's hand.
His eyes darted quickly to her face and he couldn't help but be startled
by the sinister look
in her eyes. A shiver ran through him. "Alica? What
are you doing?"
Dixie slowly began drifting back into consciousness.
"Dix? Dix, can you hear me?"
She heard the distressed voice, but could not find the strength to answer.
"Someone get a gurney over here!" The voice shouted.
Kel? What happened? I remember...I was sick...came out of the ladies room...Kel...oh no...I must have fainted? She felt herself being lifted onto the gurney.
"Let's get her to treatment 4," Brackett ordered.
Roy and Joanne had both drifted off to sleep, after talking for a little while and just enjoying each others company. They were thankful to be able to relax, just a little, from the turmoil that had recently invaded their lives.
Dr. Early walked into Joanne's room, smiling at the sight of Roy and Joanne sleeping peacefully, beside each other. He hated having to wake the exhausted paramedic, but this just couldn't wait. He gently shook Roy's shoulder, trying not to startle him again.
Roy mumbled something and then managed to force his eyes open. He looked up into the concerned face of Dr. Early. "Oh, sorry Doc...I must have fallen asleep," he said, rubbing his eyes. "Is everything okay?"
"That's why I'm here Roy. I need to speak with you...something's
happened," he spoke softly and gestured toward the door. "Let's
go out in the hall so we don't wake Joanne."
